Maybe not the most popular man on here- but Nolan seems to have done a good job at Notts County
22nd when he took over, and finished in 16th place.

Looks to have something about him as a manager- bloody good win ratio with two tumultuous clubs. Wonder if he'll ever make it to the Premier League?

Bigot - he joined them to manage them, though. Not quite the same.

Was a great charachter and scored quite a few goals for us, led the team well to get promoted and stay up.

Got no critisism at all, he faded in the last season or so and left at the right time.

Had a real issue with Allardyce playing a past it player and the proof was in the pudding. He didn't leave and join a Premier League or Championship club, post release he trained and then signed for Leyton Orient who were three divisions below is.

As a man, as a leader and remembering his first two seasons, I'll always wish him well.

Still not forgiving him for sendings off against Millwall and Liverpool though.

Great leader when it comes to man management, so it'sno surpise he's doing alright at management.

He could come really good. He must have learnt alot from Fatty's defensive savoir faire, but at the same time he's an attacker who knows the ropes up front. Good balance of experience, that.

Top bloke to be fair. Time caught up with him, as it does with all of us.

Good luck to him - committed professional who did well for us for a while. Just not an effective PL footballer for the second half of his contract.

I always liked him and thought some of the grief he got on here was a bit unjustified. He never picked himself after all!

Seemed to be a good captain and popular with the rest of the squad. Still only 34! He's got time on his side to get himself a successful management career and I like that he's not been too proud to take a job in the lower divisions unlike many other players of this generation.

Actually that was probably more to do with BFS being at them all as well and making him captain ;o)

Good pro was Nolan and 30 goals in 141 games for us isn't to be sniffed at.

Good luck to him as a manager, he clearly has something about him that players clearly like, hence why he was the captain at all of his clubs.

The player that people wanted to replace Nolan was Diego Poyet. Remember him?

I like the man, I just didn't like the player once his legs had gone

Nolan is alright with me, Good luck to him I have got over the fact that he played for us for a season and a half more than he deserved to, I blame BS for that.

Spot on b6

But then that's the exact reason we were able to get him in the first place - pardew wouldn't give him the length of contract he wanted, the pay off for getting him to drop down a division was that he'd get 5 years pay.

He did a very good job for us for 2 years - it's actually quite staggering how poor he was after that though

Re: Maybe not the most popular man on here- but Nolan seems to have done a good job at Notts County
Agreed & it'll be interesting to see if he can develop as a manager.

Overall he done an excellent job for WH. He certainly got in the team during his last season when he's performances didn't warrant it , but that was down to the manager & not him.

Similar to the Noble & Billic now.

Re: Maybe not the most popular man on here- but Nolan seems to have done a good job at Notts County
The hardest thing for an English manager is getting a Premier league chance. Getting a Championship club promoted is the best route.

Not that he is near that yet
But as said he has done well at two basket cases
Good luck to him .... perhaps he'd like to buy Carroll?

I don't think he has been playing himself, but he has done a great job & it doesn't surprise me at all. Well done KN!

Re: Maybe not the most popular man on here- but Nolan seems to have done a good job at Notts County
I don't think many had a problem with Nolan, but more BFS playing him no matter what. Needed to be used as an impact sub or whatever, because he was a fucking joke for many games.

Liked him at the club, just not how he was used for the second 2 years.
